BLACK DIAMOND

- CHAMPIONED BLOODLINE MAINE COONS -

WHO WE ARE

BLACK DIAMOND MAINE COONS

We operate a small Maine Coon cattery located in Arizona, focusing on the breeding of purebred European Maine Coons with championship bloodlines. Our passion for the breed was ignited when we acquired our first MCO, Charlie, which inspired us to extend this passion to others. Our commitment revolves around providing meticulous care and socialization to our kittens from birth, ensuring their well-being and affectionate nature. Beyond being pets, our MCOs are valued companions that have significantly contributed to alleviating our anxieties and childhood traumas. We firmly believe in the therapeutic benefits of animal companionship and are resolute in sharing this belief with others. We have devoted ourselves to our feline companions and aim to offer homes the same love and bond that we have experienced with our own MCO. Our breeding program is dedicated to producing healthy, well-rounded kittens with affectionate temperaments and striking aesthetics, and our deepening fascination with the breed and reproductive understanding of Maine Coons has only further been fueled.

FAQ

INFORMATION

To learn more about our cattery and the adorable kittens in our care, we invite you to read this page. Here, you can gain insight into our values, our meticulous adoption process, and other pertinent information. It’s important to note that we generally have a high demand for kittens and do not often have them readily available. However, we offer a pre-reserve option for those who have conducted thorough research and wish to secure a spot on our waitlist for future litters. Please keep in mind that spots are limited due to the number of litters we have planned for the year. If you’re keen to join our pre-reservation VIP list, we encourage you to visit the availability page to get a glimpse of the upcoming matings we have planned.

Our interview process helps us to better understand the forever homes we choose for our kittens. After you submit a kitten application we will conduct a phone screening. This helps give us an idea on the living situation and the home our kitten will be raised in. It’s important we make sure our kittens are a good fit for your family, and understand what the kittens’ daily life would consist of. We like to make sure everyone in the family is excited for their new Black Diamond member! Once we decide your home would be a good fit we can then move forward in arranging your reservation. The interview process is as follows:

  1. Submit an application
  2. Next we will conduct a phone screening
  3. Upon approval, you will then gain access to reserve any available Black Diamond kitten or available VIP spot (Pre-Reservation).

We search for number one, a loving home. Love is essential when it comes to our kittens, they are very affectionate and expressive, and deserve no less than this in return. A home that is communicative and responsive is paramount to us. We want a life long relationship for the kitten, and we need to know you are in it as much as we are. Not only do we want to watch our kittens grow, but we want to ensure they will have a full long healthy happy life. Stability is important when talking about the overall health, life, and happiness of a cat. A commitment to frequent vet visits and follow ups and a consistent care routine is extremely important. We look for this in our forever homes as well as a strong family. What is important in our home, is important to us in the forever homes we choose. With that being said, we aren’t interested in homes where someone needs to convince their spouse to get a cat. Not only do they become a part of your family but you become a part of our family, and it’s important to us that everyone not only be on board but be excited. There is no shortage of love a Black Diamond Kitten will come home with, and we like to ensure they will receive no shortage in return. Patience and understanding is key in creating a strong bond and long lasting relationship not only with your kitten but with us as your breeder. Safety is also a major concern when it comes to our Maine Coon kittens, as they can be quite rambunctious, so it’s important our forever homes are precocious and are addressing any potential dangers in and around their home. Once again we are looking for ‘forever’ homes, so people who take that commitment seriously, ultimately are who we look for in our kittens’ families.

Our kittens are able to go home at 16 weeks. Within that time they are fully vaccinated and dewormed, including their rabies shot. They are vaccinated for Panleukopenia, Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, Chlamydia, Leukemia, FIP, and Rabies. They receive their first vaccination at 8 weeks of age, their second at 12 weeks of age and their final shot at 16 weeks of age. We first deworm at 6 weeks, then again at 8 weeks, and their final deworming at 12 weeks of age. Before the kittens go home we conduct a litter pool sample (PCR Test) at 12 weeks, to ensure your kitten is healthy prior to coming home. The kittens are neutered/spayed at 16 weeks. Early-age neutering does not stunt growth in dogs or cats (a once-held belief), but may alter metabolic rates in cats. The anesthetic and surgical procedures are safe for young puppies and kittens; morbidity is lower and recovery is faster than in adult animals. After a few days of monitoring the healing process, we then allow the kittens to come home. That healing period is necessary in order to ensure your kitten has no allergic reactions, infections, etc. We want to ensure your kitten comes to you in the best health possible!

Our Kings and Queens are health tested for HCM, SMA, PKDef, FXI, and blood tested to ensure our kittens are free of genetic defects and the most common health issues Maine Coons are known to have.

We serve our kittens Farmina N&D Dry and Wet Food, ZiwiPeak Wet Food, Orijen Wet & Dry Food, Fussie Cat Wet Food, & in the beginning stages Royal Canin Mother & Baby Cat Dry and Wet Food Topped with Oat Bran & KMR. We don’t typically feed chicken or pork. To give our cats a vitamin boost we give them Welactin Omega 3 Supplement, Liqui-Tinic Vitamin B and Iron Supplement, & Fortiflora Probiotics. For immune support we give our cats Immuno-5 to ensure their immune systems are strong to give them the best chance of thriving. Be sure to consult with your vet for any dietary concerns in your pet prior to making any dietary or supplemental changes.

We offer a 3 year health guarantee for any genetic health issues. We do everything we can, prior to you taking your kitten home, to ensure your kitten lives a long happy healthy life! We also send your kitten home with free health insurance with Trupanion for your first month. When you have one of our kittens, you are a part of the Black Diamond family. We are always available to you if you have questions, concerns, need advice, or just want to say hello!

Our cats are $6000. There is a $2000 Non-Refundable Reservation Fee, which is applied to the total cost of your Black Diamond kitten. If you are interested in joining our VIP list by Pre-Reserving you are required to pay $1000 of the $2000 kitten reservation fee upon reservation of an available VIP spot. The remaining $1000 is due upon choosing your Black Diamond kitten. Some people find this easier due to getting to split the kitten deposit into two payments. Payments are not required however they do help greatly, we only require that your kitten be paid in full at 15 weeks old prior to your kittens’ spay/neuter surgery.

**PAYMENTS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE AND ARE APPLICABLE TOWARD THE PURCHASE OF ANY AVAILABLE BDK KITTEN. WE ACCEPT PAYMENTS MOST COMMONLY THROUGH ZELLE, VENMO, OR VIA CASHAPP. NO CASHIERS CHECKS, NO CREDIT CARDS OR CASH.**

Our VIP members get priority when it comes to selecting their kitten. In order to join the VIP List (Pre-reserve) you must have an application already filled out. Upon pre-reserving your Black Diamond kitten you are required to pay $1000 of the $2000 kitten reservation fee. The remaining $1000 is due upon choosing your Black Diamond kitten.

After joining the VIP List, you will receive the first available kitten of the upcoming litter. You can move your reservation to another available litter and you will receive the next kitten available. If a kitten becomes available, our VIPs get the first option in moving up their reservation to the available kitten. We can’t control mother nature, which is why we limit the amount of VIP spots we have a year. If an accident, or unforeseen event occurs your reservation is still honored. You can move your reservation to the next available kitten from the next available litter.

Our kittens go home fully vaccinated and dewormed. They may come home at 16 weeks spayed/neutered after the medication and healing period. Your Black Diamond kitten will come home with their Vaccination & Deworming Record, TICA & CFA Registrations, Chipped, Birth Certificate, Spayed/Neutered, Contract, Kitten Care Package, First month free with Trupanion Pet Insurance & a 3 year health guarantee.

We do local delivery to your door or we will pick a place to meet. You are more than welcome to fly in and fly back home with your kitten, and if necessary we can meet you at the airport. We currently offer local delivery in Southern California, Arizona, Nevada, & Utah. If you are outside the local delivery zone, we do have a flight nanny. Our flight nanny will fly in the cabin with your kitten to you anywhere in the U.S. and Canada, with constant updates and photos along the way!

As a breeder there are many hazards when opening up your home to visitors. Pregnant queens can’t be disturbed or stressed out, or you run the risk of losing your litter due to a stressed queen. Similarly, stress can ruin heat cycles and disturb the mating process. Health concerns for the kittens and newborns also arise when a breeder opens their home to visitors because you are now opening your home to outside contaminants. Clothing, shoes, & etc can carry illnesses as well as parasites such as fleas, ticks, mites etc. In order to be able to guarantee the health of our kittens we have to take extensive precautions in order to uphold that guarantee. For these reasons we do not open our home to visitors.

Our kittens go home neutered/spayed at 16 weeks of age, we do not offer breeding rights.
