Our interview process helps us to better understand the forever homes we choose for our kittens. After you submit a kitten application we will conduct a phone screening. This helps give us an idea on the living situation and the home our kitten will be raised in. It’s important we make sure our kittens are a good fit for your family, and understand what the kittens’ daily life would consist of. We like to make sure everyone in the family is excited for their new Black Diamond member! Once we decide your home would be a good fit we can then move forward in arranging your reservation. The interview process is as follows:

1. Submit a Kitten Application
   Only serious inquiries will be considered. This helps us ensure the best fit for both our kittens and their future families.

2. Phone/Facetime Interview
   We require a phone or FaceTime interview to get to know you and understand your home environment. Matching the right kitten to the right home is extremely important to us.

3. Sign Contracts
   We will never accept a payment without having both the Kitten Contract and Pre-Reserve Agreement signed first.

4. Reservation Fee
   To join our VIP Pre-Reserve List, a $1,000 deposit is required at the time of reserving an available spot. The remaining $1,000 of the $2,000 reservation fee is due when you select your kitten. The total cost for one of our Maine Coon kittens is $6,000 however, this will increase to $7000 as of January 1, 2026.

5. Receipts & Pet Portal Access
   After we receive your reservation fee, you can expect to receive your receipt within 24–48 hours. You’ll also gain access to your Pet Portal, where you can track all contracts, receipts, health records, and other important documents.

6. Prepare for Your Kitten!
   This is the perfect time to begin preparing your home. We’ll be here to help guide you along the way.
